Crisis Intervention & Suicide Prevention Certificate (Online)

This certificate program provides the knowledge and skills to intervene appropriately and compassionately in a crisis, identify abuse and neglect indicators, and mental health symptoms, and establish appropriate helping relationships with people.

Program Learning Outcomes

At the conclusion of this program, students will be able to:

1. Understand common crisis issues to include situations involving domestic violence, sexual assault, family relationships, natural disasters, mental illness, health related crises, substance abuse, and stress.

2. Identify potential coping processes to intervene on behalf of individuals and families in crisis.

3. Utilize the micro-skills of attending, observation, questioning, paraphrasing, and directing in the helping interview process.

4. Demonstrate the ability to assess and intervene with suicidal individuals.
