Biochemistry

The biochemistry major is designed for students with a desire to pursue medical school or future graduate studies in areas of biology or chemistry. The program also provides an avenue for students to advance their career as an entry-level industrial researcher. As a comprehensive major, there is no need for an additional minor.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion the program, a student will be able to:

  1. Effectively communicate principles of biology through oral means (BIO)
  2. Effectively communicate chemistry concepts through oral means (CHEM)
  3. Effectively communicate principles of biology through written means (BIO)
  4. Effectively communicate chemistry concepts through written means (CHEM)
  5. Demonstrate ability to know, analyze, and synthesize scientific principles (BIO)
  6. Analyze experimental data to draw conclusions about the physical world (CHEM)
  7. Design and perform experiments using the scientific method (CHEM)
  8. Apply theoretical principles, models and conventions to the study of chemistry (CHEM)
