Applied Biology

The Applied Biology Traditional Undergraduate program is designed for students seeking employment immediately following completion of a BS in Biology. Students will acquire a foundational understanding of chemistry and physics, but the coursework focuses primarily on an understanding of biological concepts through a Christian perspective. Coursework includes cellular, organismal, and environmental function and interaction as well as laboratory and field techniques and applications. 

This degree (without a specific track) focuses on coursework specific to the needs of biology students entering the workforce after graduation and should be combined with a minor that supports the student’s career goals. This degree does not offer coursework necessary for most biology graduate programs.
The Applied Biology: Agriculture Track focuses on coursework specific to the needs of students entering the workforce after graduation or desiring a master’s degree in agriculture.

Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the Applied Biology Program will:

  1. Demonstrate ability to know, analyze, and synthesize scientific principles.
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in laboratory technique.
  3. Develop understanding of function/structure/classification of life.
  4. Effectively communicate principles of biology through oral means.
  5. Effectively communicate principles of biology through written means.
