Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the BS in Accounting will be able to:

  1. Apply accounting principles
    • Demonstrate proficiency in applying foundational accounting principles and standards, including financial reporting, managerial accounting, taxation, and auditing
    • Understand and apply legal and regulatory frameworks, including tax laws and auditing standards, to ensure compliance and maintain the accuracy of financial reporting.
  2. Analyze Financial Data
    • Interpret and analyze financial statements and data to assess an organization’s financial health, performance, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
    • Utilize cost accounting methods to develop budgets, manage costs, and improve the financial efficiency of organizations across various sectors.
    • Use current accounting information systems and software to manage financial data, perform audits, and generate reports that support organizational decision-making.
  3. Apply Ethical Frameworks
    • Apply ethical frameworks and Christian values to make sound decisions in accounting practices, promoting integrity, transparency, and accountability in financial reporting and business operations.
    • Use critical thinking and quantitative analysis to solve complex financial problems, assess risks, and propose strategies for financial improvement or risk mitigation.
    • Analyze the impact of global financial markets, economic trends, and cultural differences on accounting practices, and propose solutions that reflect a socially responsible and globally conscious approach to financial management.
  4. Communicate Financial Information
    • Effectively communicate complex financial data and accounting concepts to stakeholders through written reports and oral presentations.
  5. Demonstrate readiness for professional certifications such as the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and engage in continuous professional development to adapt to evolving industry standards and best practices.
