TESOL Minor

The TESOL Minor (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) consists of 21 required credits.

The TESOL Minor is open to Evangel students in any major who have at least sophomore standing and EU Writing Proficiency status.  It will prepare students to teach English as a second language in the United States and as a foreign language abroad.  Education majors successfully completing the Minor will also be eligible to complete the ESOL Endorsement requirements for K-12 public school certification in the state of Missouri. Each state in the U.S. has its own certification requirements, which usually involves training at the level of at least a minor, so students intending to teach in other states should check for ESOL reciprocity agreements with Missouri. Evangel’s program is calibrated with the requirements of Missouri’s Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). Students in the TESOL Minor program must achieve a grade of at least C- in each course for the TESOL Minor.
