The Evangel University Cordas C. Burnett Library serves as the university’s primary information resource facility, supporting all undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate programs with extensive print, digital, multi-media and audio-visual resources along with a wide variety of services. Located in the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary building, this two-level facility provides students with a pleasant study atmosphere for individuals and groups along with its wealth of resources.
The library houses the seminary library collections, consisting of approximately 128,000 bound volumes and 5,000 media in various formats. These holdings include extensive biblical, theological and missiological materials, and are augmented by the Flower Pentecostal Heritage Center located at The Assemblies of God General Council headquarters in Springfield. The library also houses printed books and periodicals from the former Klaude Kendrick University Library collection supporting a wide assortment of academic disciplines, including Behavioral and Social Sciences, Business, Communications, Education, Humanities, Kinesiology, Music, Science and Technology, Theology and Church Ministries.
The EU Library provides students and faculty access to several online databases, resources, and publisher backfiles that significantly enhance the library’s collection, serving as periodical indexing tools while also providing full-text access to a wide range of electronic resources, including journals and approximately 140,000 eBooks. These databases include: full-text databases available through EBSCOhost (Academic Search Ultimate, EBSCO eBooks, the ATLA Religion Database with ATLASerials, Old and New Testament Abstracts, APA databases, Educational Resources Information Center – ERIC, Business Source Complete, Humanities International Complete); eHRAF (Electronic Human Relations Area Files for cross-cultural and intercultural studies); Pro Quest Research Library, including the Pro Quest Dissertations & Theses Full Text database ; Films on Demand ; JSTOR Journal Archives ; Sage Journals.
The library facility includes computers that provide access to productivity software, library resources and the Internet. Students may use the library’s copy machine/printer to scan and save copies of documents, either using USB drives or their email accounts, and for color printing. A wireless network is accessible throughout the facility and students can send their personal computer’s print jobs to the library’s printer.
The EU Library can provide further access to print materials beyond those housed on campus by virtue of EU’s status as a member of the MOBIUS consortium. Materials requested from any participating consortium library are delivered to the EU campus within a couple of business days through the MOBIUS Courier Delivery System. Participating libraries include, but are not limited to, most of the institutions of higher learning in the state of Missouri. The library also offers interlibrary loan services through OCLC that enable patrons to borrow books from other non-Consortium libraries throughout the country.
