BHE 530 : Hebrew IA

The essentials of the Hebrew of the Old Testament with an emphasis on vocabulary, grammar and syntax. Course may not apply toward fulfillment of degree requirements (see degree program descriptions for any applicable exceptions).

BHE 531 : Hebrew IB

A continuation of Hebrew IA. Includes the translating of passages from the Hebrew text of the Old Testament. Course may not apply toward fulfillment of degree requirements (see degree program descriptions for any applicable exceptions).

BHE 530 or equivalent.

BHE 611 : Intermediate Hebrew I

Develops students understanding of intermediate-level issues related to the history, morphology, syntax, and discourse of biblical Hebrew. Topics include proficiency in reading and translating Hebrew from the Masoretic text and developing ability to exegete narrative passages of biblical Hebrew with attention to translation and meaning of the passage.

BHE 612 : Intermediate Hebrew II

Continues to develop students understanding of intermediate-level issues related to the history, morphology, syntax, and discourse of biblical Hebrew. Topics include proficiency in reading, translating Hebrew from the Mastoretic text, and strengthening the ability to exegete passages of biblical Hebrew poetry with attention to translation and meaning of the passage.

BHE 640 : Advanced Hebrew Exegesis

An intense exegetical study of an Old Testament book or selected Old Testament passages. Content will vary according to the interests of the instructor and the needs of the students.
