EDUC 271 : Education of the Exceptional and English Language Learner
Provides an overview of the unique needs of individuals with disabilities covered under IDEA, the culturally diverse, the gifted, and the English Language learner. Emphasizes teaching diverse individuals in elementary, middle, and secondary school settings.
Required for all education majors. LEC 1 and LEC 2 meets the Exceptional Learner state certification requirements for all education majors.
LEC 1 is 3 credits. LEC 2 is 2 credits, and does not include the 1 credit English Language Learner section. LEC 3 is 1 credit and is for those students who have not met the ELL requirement for state certification through EDUC 271 or other ELL coursework.
