Music: Recording Technology Emphasis (Bachelor of Science)
Program Learning outcomes for the Bachelor of Science in Music, Recording Technology.
At the conclusion of this program, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate specific knowledge of the properties of rhythm, melody, and harmony in written and aural music theory. (Musical Skills and Analysis)
- Perform at an acceptable level as both a soloist and ensemble member in a variety of contexts and demonstrate piano skills at an intermediate level. (Performance)
- Create original music and demonstrate improvisational skills at a competent level. (Composition and Improvisation)
- Demonstrate the comprehension of music history according to appropriate historical and stylistic interpretation through written and oral means. (Repertory and History)
- Demonstrate specific knowledge of sound and its properties, and explain MIDI, synthesis, and sampling and its application to music production. (Music Production)
- Record, edit, mix, and master music for a commercial release. (Recording)
- Use a variety of microphones to achieve the best possible sound and be able to set up and operate a project recording studio. (Microphone Technique/Studio Setup)
The Bachelor of Science in Music with Emphasis in Recording Technology consists of 43 credits of music courses and 21 credits of recording technology courses. This degree offers an option to the student who has a strong interest in music as well as an interest in business or recording technology.

Required Courses
Take 4 credits from following:
*Music Majors must be enrolled in at least one MORG major ensemble each semester.
All Music majors are required to enroll in MUSC 098 Concert Experience each semester during which the student must attend a total of 12 recitals per semester, 2 of which should be for the symphony/orchestra credit.
Take 6 credits of Applied Music Lessons (preferably in one area).
Electives
Choose 6 credits MUSC 300/400 level elective.
Choose 9 credits of Non-Music electives.
