Accreditations and Affiliations

Evangel University holds institutional accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission. Evangel University has maintained continuous Higher Learning Commission approval since 1965. Evangel is scheduled to undergo its 10-year accreditation review in November 2026.

 In addition, the institution and certain of its programs are accredited by:

  • Association of Theological Schools the Commission on Accrediting (ATS).  Member Status: Accredited in Good Standing. Next comprehensive accreditation visit is spring 2033.
  • National Association of Schools of Music. Accredited through the 2026-2027 academic year.
  • Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Seated business programs accredited through 2025. Next site visit for reaffirmation is February 2026.
  • Commission on Accreditation Council on Social Work Education. The Social Work program is accredited through February 2026.  Next accreditation visit is September 2025.
  • Council for the Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs. Accredited through October 2027.
  • Evangel University is authorized to train students under the Veteran’s Bill of Rights.
  • The Missouri State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education issues teaching certificates to graduates who successfully complete the Teacher Education program
  • The University, including its embedded seminary, AGTS, is endorsed by the Assemblies of God.

In addition, the University is affiliated with several professional organizations, of which the following are representative:

  • Association of Governing Boards
  • Christian Adult Higher Education Association
  • Council for Adult and Experiential Learning
  • Council for Christian Colleges and Universities

 

Missouri and Federal Approvals and Other Specific Licensing 

The Missouri Department of Higher Education does not authorize or approve courses and/or programs from private, independent institutions such as Evangel University.

Evangel University is authorized by the Department of Education to participate in: Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Opportunity Grant, Federal TEACH Grant, Federal Work Study, Federal Direct Student Loans, Federal Direct Parent and Graduate Plus Loans.

Evangel University is approved by the Higher Learning Commission to confer degrees as set forth above.
